Steve Drago is a finance executive in the software and services industry with over 17 years of broad experience leading high growth private and public companies in the U.S. He knows how to create new organizations, grow companies and lead them to profitable and cash positive operations.
He assists companies serving as a CFO, controller or advisor. Part-time (sometimes called fractional) CFO and Controller services include the areas of: Strategy and Business Planning, Financial Operations and Debt and Equity Financing.
Steve currently serves as CFO for several start-ups and emerging firms. Steve was the Corporate Controller of Ultimus, Inc., a leading BPM (Business Process Management) software company. The venture-backed emerging-growth company had over 1000% revenue growth in 9 years, increasing its customer base to over 2,000 customers and the opening of 18 offices around the world.
Prior to Ultimus, Steve was CFO or Group Controller with several public and private multi-site manufacturing firms serving industries worldwide.
Steve received a BS in Accounting and Finance from Drexel University and an MBA from Cleveland State University. He is an active Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Management Accountant and a North Carolina Notary Public.
Steve served on the national Board of Directors of the Institute of Management Accountants for five years. He is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s (AICPA), the North Carolina Association of CPA’s (NCACPA), the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), and is a Founding Board Member of the North Carolina Executive Roundtable.
